“Karen Neumann's (USA) striking voice with its ever wide range of emotion, full-on sex appeal and raw gritty power make her a first rate blues soul diva in the making…“ legendary jazz saxophonist, Arnie Lawrence

Karen Lea (pronounced Lee) Neumann was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.
After several moves they finally settled in Charleston, South Carolina.

Karen met and performed with some of the greatest living jazz and blues artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Frankie Paris, Joan Osborne, John Popper, Popa Chubby, the Spin Doctors, and other all-star New York musicians.

She's performed at New York jazz and blues clubs such as Deanna's, the historic Arthur's Tavern, CBGB's, Delta 88's, and the Village Vanguard.

Karen has been very active in area of theatre as well.
She toured in the US. 25 th Anniversary production of the Broadway show, HAIR.
She has also made appearances singing and acting on television and film.

Now residing in the Netherlands, Karen performs regularly with the Desafinado Session Band and sits in with several other blues and jazz formations.
In december 2005 she launched her new band DELTA 88, a soul/ country blues band.

Delta 88 featuring Karen Neumann is a criss-cross of styles ranging from blues and soul to alternative rock and country.
Though the musicians have all joined together after having taken up residence in the Netherlands, the background of each individually and collectively spells true Americana.

Delta 88's music is combinations of blues , slow soulful sensuality and sprinkled with familiar country, funk, and blues grooves.
This 5 piece ensemble delivers every song with a depth and passion that is the heart of real blues--truths told through musical interlude--- the real pain and passion of life---the way men and women will forever be attracted to and rejected by each other.

Neumann's voice is smoky, dark and powerful.
The songs are coloured by the grand swells of three and four part harmonies that are a testament to the professional arrangements penned by bass player Joyce Grimes (New Orleans, USA).
