The Rubettes first made No.1 in 1974 with their very first single 'Sugar Baby Love' and after five weeks at the coveted No.1 spot in the U.K. they repeated their success throughout the world. 'Sugar Baby Love' sold eight million copies after which the Rubettes went on to have a further 15 International Hits establishing themselves, with their flamboyant Gatsby appearance, as one of the Icons of the 70's Glam Rock era.
Throughout the 70's their huge popularity determined that they were constantly in demand for TV and Concert appearances worldwide, and after completing their 8th and last album for Polydor Records in 1979 they continued to record for C.B.S. Records and Carrere Records.
| During the early 80's life for the Rubettes wasn't so hectic. The constant touring all but having ceased gave way to occasional appearances on TV, at music festivals and special events until in 1983 they where invited to tour in Germany. This intriguing offer filled the Rubettes, who could never have imagined the huge popularity of nostalgia music yet to come, with amused interest, and from that moment they never looked back. |

With three of the original members of the Rubettes still in attendance, namely Alan Williams - Lead Vocals/Guitar, Mick Clarke - Bass and John Richardson - Drums plus Mark Haley on Keyboards, the Rubettes are as popular as ever. Having sold in excess of 30 million records to date they are regularly sought after to appear on TV at Clubs, Galas and Festivals worldwide, reproducing their fabulous nostalgic sound for young and old alike.
